Musical Messsages from Val and Gemma
To everyone minus none, thank you very much for my beautiful flowers and precious signed cards given to me on Sunday. I have been honoured to play for you all for the past year and now look forward to re-joining the choir.Â
Although I have enjoyed playing for you it was quite a task for me as the organ is VERY LOUD and scary. I couldn’t have carried on at all if it hadn’t been for everyone’s support; you really are like family. Family supports each other whether we’re right or wrong, good or bad and that’s where St Mark’s is really spot on. If anyone needs help of any description, St Mark’s congregation is there, I’m very proud to be a part of you and to call you ‘my family’.
Look out for me on December 16th, I think I’m on again (for one day only).

I am absolutely delighted to be joining you in the post of Director of Music/Organist at St Mark’s. I’ve been asked to let you know a little about myself, so here goes! I live in Sutton in Ashfield with my husband Jim and our 2 children, Noah (nearly 3) and Maggie (15 months). I used to be a primary school teacher but left a few years ago and now work for Music for Everyone – alongside Su and Isobel who are already known to you all! I am the principal accompanist for Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir and also do some accompanying for South Notts Men’s Chorus and Quadravox. I will be coming to you from St Andrew’s with Castle Gate URC and am looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months! Gemma
